A Night with The London Police at Unit 44

The London Police, an art collective based in Amsterdam but hailing from the UK are showing in the UK at the Unit 44 gallery in Newcastle Upon Tyne, with a preview night on the 11th May. A night definitely not to be missed, with the guys not only putting up an exhibition of their work, but they will also be creating exclusive pieces just for Unit 44, including a huge mural to add to the Unit's ongoing "Whitewalls" project and a limited edition print to be sold on the night.

The London police formed in 1998, and headed to Amsterdam to bring some culture and art to the grim streets. The ethos of the London Police is to combine travelling and art, and from 2002 sent out missionaires around the globe, the London Police have enjoyed huge success in the street art world, and have graced the streets and galleries of 35 countries.

There have been many members of The London Police, but the remaining duo have managed to create a partnership akin to "Han Solo and Chewbacca in Star Wars" (well according to their website) It is massively exciting that they are coming to Newcastle, and yet again Unit 44 proves itself as a serious heavyweight in pulling in the big name street artists. I'm very much looking forward to this exhibition, definitely not one to miss......

p.s there is also promise of Tequila and Beers (what other reason do you need to go now)
