Inspiration: Intriguing architecture

I have a bit of a fascination with countries that were once behind the iron curtain and these photos taken by Jan Kempenaers of monuments in the former Yugoslavia are just amazing. These memorials look completely space age yet were built in the 1960s/70s to commemorate World War 2. Now abandoned these fantastic pieces of architecture look like something from a sci fi film set, there is something quite poignant about them.

These photos are taken from Jan's book "Spomenik" which you can buy.
Take a look at his website to find out more about him and his brilliant work.

  1. There really was some incredible and super futuristic (even looking from today's POV) designs going on. Great post dude.
