Dr Martens Newcastle Launch party...part 1

If you didn't see my previous post, Dr Martens have just opened a new store in Newcastle, their first standalone store in the city and on Thursday I headed over to the launch party to see what they've done with the store!

First off there was the important task of deciding what to wear, I don't really do outfit posts on here as I'm a bit shy and prefer to be behind the camera, but here I am wearing my Harlen Doc Martens teamed with my Vintage Army Jacket, American Apparel backless dress and ASOS frilly socks. Nice awkward pose outside the store.

The event was absolutely packed and buzzing with people! There was free drink kindly supplied by Anarchy Beer and Fentimans and delicious food by Electric East. (all of them are North East companies, yay!)

The store looked amazing with stripped back bare brick walls and promotional posters supporting their #standforsomething campaign. The store sells more than just boots, they also stock Dr Martens clothing and accessories, I was a little bit amazed at how much other stuff they do, beautiful leather satchels, cute baby DM's, mens and womens clothing and lovely scarves. At the back of the store was this awesome Dr Martens Jukebox.

The entire back wall has been turned into a piece of art by local art collective Prefab77
It fitted in perfectly with the space and with the brand.

The guys had also done this awesome limited edition print for the event, which you can buy online.

The entertainment for the night was provided by two bands, the first were Hati (lead by the amazing female lead singer Hati) and the second were Sunderland favourites, Frankie and the heartstrings.

Some loverllllly Dr Martens Brogues

I love the packaging of these socks.

Bought myself a new lambswool scarf for winter

I had a great night and have no doubt the store will do well. It's exactly what Newcastle needed and I think it'll fit in well amongst the current high street offerings. Here's hoping we can attract more British brands to the toon!

Thanks for reading :)

Part 2 will be posted soon - I took a load of photos on my minolta so keep your eyes peeled!

  1. Their stores look really good and all of them have a different art installation going on I've noticed. I was in the Brighton store the other week and theirs was a big boot made up of hundreds of shoe laces. I took a photo but it's at a funny angle. Might post it soon.

Bet you're happy about the opening. I've still not been up that way.
