On a recent trip to Portugal, The Honest Curator captured just some of the hundreds of beautiful tiles or as they're known in Portugal, Azulejos, that adorn the churches, houses and municipal buildings in the cities of Lisbon and Porto. The word azulejo has Arabic roots, meaning ‘small polished stone' and the craft of creating these beautiful ceramic pieces was rife in the 16th, 17th & 18th century across many European countries.
